Maybe I have read this incorrectly, but the car should not be able to start without the transponder fitted (or have it within an inch or so of the barrel).
Are the keys on the same key ring? If so this could explain why it started - ie the receiver 'picked up' the transponder from the other key Sent from my SM-A600FN using Tapatalk
