Branksome Dene Chine

Spotted my old R75 parked up today. Does the owner frequent this forum?

For the uniniciated. The -Chines- are small -valleys- that run down to the sea in Bournemouth Bay. They are situated between the main seafront of Bournemouth and Sandbanks (Poole) RL Stevenson wrote Teasure Island whilst living in one of the Chines (My dad used to say that he was a -fund- of totally usless info. Seem to have inherited the trait)

I think something like this is needed, i'd would really interested to my vehicles previous owner about my car. A kind of cars re-unite

There's some good old pictures of chines on this website. Being around them all my life I've never really questioned the word, interesting though.

Apparently my brother-in-law spoke to the owner of my old 75 after I left the chine. He bought it from a dealer and since has had some repair work done on it, not sure what though. Hopefully he'll join the forum to reap the benefits. Interesting as I only sold it about 1/2 year ago and has had 2 owners since.

Understandably Stevenson was inspired by the beauty of the Chines; having lived for a number of years recently facing Branksome Chine and walked through to the sea in its ever changing seasonal flora, I have only the utmost praise for our local Poole council, parks department, for the magnitued and diversity of the variations of trees, plants and shrubs.
With a small stream burbling its way seaward, a more pleasant mile and a half walk is unimaginable. My 75 still finds its way there as often as time permits. Mike.

My holidays as a child comprised of a trip on the nr 3 yellow bus from Kinson to the Square, a walk through the gardens (maybe testing my boat in the Bourne) and then the walk along the front to one of the Chines, often Branksome Chine. A day on the sand with orange squash and sarnies. Running around the chine playing -it- with my brothers. As you say it´s still a lovely place to visit

Rubbish Chines is what connects the pedals to the back wheel on a push-mangle (bike)

CHINE. Chain. The Scotswood suspension bridge was called the Chine Bridge.

Branksome Dene chine is the lesser known chine next to Branksome Chine.

Appropiately Alum chine has a suspension bridge of it's own. Two different chines in one. Right next to it is The Chine Bridge Lodge, a B&B run by a friend of my wife. Real nice place.

Still hoping the owner shows up on the forum. Really want to know how my old 75 is doing
