EGR Bypass

Hi Can any tell me if this mod works or not? i have seen this mod on ebay they say that with this mod the engine runs alot better and better fuel costs ect, any info would help, thanks steve.

I've yet to fit an EGR bypass but it's on my list of things to do

i had one on mine and had a few issues witht efitting of the blank side of things so make sure its fitted right , but overall mad an improvment nothing drastic at all mind

Gut feeling - on a standard car it does little or nothing but with a Ron box turbo spring and airbox mods etc then perhaps the extra volume of air it lets through will help.

I took notice of the advice given by the well respected Rincewind and decided I didn't need one.

But It is worth pointing out that I have seen a few cars with faulty EGR valves i.e they are leaking or remain open for a few seconds at tickover which allows exhaust gas in to the inlet and that gives the same gutless symptoms as a dead maf would in those case obviously fitting an EGR bypass would give a dramatic improvement but for the wrong reasons!

And if you car isn't modded, you don't need to spend the £30 on an egr bypass, just take the egr valve off, clean it and put it back on. Then disconnect the little hose and plug it to disable it. Same job, just not quite as much air flow as the bypass.

I got another 3mpg after cleaning my stuck open one.
