Question AA Solar car battery charger

Anybody have one of these AA Solar battery charger plugs into EOBD socket, onto battery or into cigarette lighter/accessory socket (with permanent live).

Well may be keeping my 75 Tourer (it's taxed and insured until 2015) and with light use will need this or a similar method of maintaining battery charge, there are similar about but this one particularly interesting due to EOBD plug in.

Is charging on a 75/ZT using this connection likely to work?

That looks pretty useful, AA would not sell it if it was junk, I think?

My thoughts as well Ken, Google'd and found lots of reviews by satisfied users lots being recommended by AA patrol after being called out to flat batteries, confirms our thoughts, excellent product and have ordered one.

Thanks chipsceola.
I didn't know that you could get them to plug into the OBD socket.

I've got a couple of very similar ones, though they have crocodile clips (to attach directly to the battery) or a cigarette lighter plug.

Got mine from Maplins £9.99

For those that are current AA members there is another link, buy the charger at same price and get a 2015 road atlas for free + free p&p - that's the one I ordered.

Been using mine for the last 12 months.

Plugs in the lighter socket.

Checked the battery several times and even though the car does not get much use it maintains the voltage at 12. 8 volts. Excellent purchase. recommended.

Does it still charge when the ignition is off then?

Depends upon year; later ones have the ciggy lighter still live with ignition off. Mines does on a 06 plate.

Although I don't have the model in question having used similar bits of kit for our cars over the last 3 years or so I can highly recommend them to keep the battery topped up.

PS My ZT is on its original 06 battery 68k miles.
