What Really Narks Me Is When There Is An Obvious Cycle Lane & Cyclists Still Use The Road. Near Us The Main Road Is Wide Enough For 2 Cars But If A Cyclist Is On The Road Then You Cannot Pass.

The problem is that motorist don't understand road markings.

It is a rather stupid cycle lane though, but it has a dotted white line... (Small spaces)

TBH some cycle lanes aren't appropriate for regular cyclists as they only last a short while and require you to stop at every junction, hence cyclists on the road.

You need to re read your highway code too

Having been a cyclist for years I've always thought cyclists should be seperated completely from motorists as they are a danger to each other.
Maybe pedestrians should use one pavement, the opposite one reserved for cyclists.

The stupidest things on the roads, yes the roads, are the pedestrians, trying to separate cyclists and pedestrians on a pavement is a complete waste of time as I know from cycling in Bournemouth gardens, as the pedestrian always has the right of way, including on the road.

Cyclists are a danger unto themselves. Every day I see them going up one way streets against the flow of traffic, on the pavements (usually going against the flow direction of traffic) to the detriment of pedestrians. Something in my teens I would never even dream of doing. The trouble is, the vast majority are 30/50++ men ! And even when they are on the road, going the right way and observing the Highway code, do they pay road tax ?

It is not illegal for a bike to go the wrong way down a one way street...

Mind you, interestingly, the police dont do anything to a motorist either for this offence as it is guidelines not to waste their time enforcing such trivial road laws...

As for the suggestion that all roads should be one way, that is silly too as cars generally dont obey this rule either!

I'm all for cycle lanes if they're sensible and use correctly. A lot of cyclists I see will happily run a red light even if there's a green waiting area for them. Not all though, I guess it's like everything, you only notice the troublemakers.

I'm sure most cycle lanes are just so councils can tick off a certain box saying they meet some kind of requirement or level. There are some in silly places which is why some don't get used.
