Tyres for a ZT 190
Ok I've spent a while going through old threads, but I'll ask the question anyway.
Time for a new set of tyres. Only thought I needed 2 however one of the supposedly "good" tyres, on closer inspection has cracking in the tread so will be replacing them all. The car currently has 2x contisport3, 1x kuhmo and 1x Chinese NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-. None fitted by me I might add. So for a ZT 190 has anyone experience of suitable tyres, maybe some track day use. I have a short list of 3 or 4 possibles but would like some real world, experienced advice. Thanks David

I have used Kuhmo on my ZTT with complete satisfaction. Not too expensive and they are even nice looking..

That question fully depends on your budget...
Vredstien Ultrac Ssantra Potenza RE050 Kumho escsta sport Nankang NS2R's Federal RSR Dunlop DZ03G Federal FZ-201 I have used all of those and the Federal/Dunlop/Potenza are more track/summer orientated and are fantastic. The Kumho and Vredstien were a better all rounder. But summer tyres dont do well in winter and winter or all round tyres dont do well in summer, its simple physics work a tyre outside its temperature range and it'll either melt or just not grip. If your considering track use, i'd go for the Vredstien's or the Dunlops etc...

I found a really good offer with event tyres for my zt 190.
Falken FK510 XL 225/45/18 for £382 all inclusive normally £424. They have really good reviews also. Cheers Phill |

Thanks guys..
Tom.....Interesting selection of tyres. I don't plan on using the ZT day to day, I've got the Freelander for that, so it will be dry road use unless of course I get caught out. I also have a set of hairpins if I need a second set of tyres. Although the car is good, it is a sort of "project car" So to further definably thinking.....mainly dry road use, bit of touring and track use..

I have only used Avon tyres for a few years now and really rate the ZZ5s I have on my ZT.
around £100 fitted each. |

Just buy the best you can afford, as they are the only thing that keep your car on the road.

Personally I think the Nexen N8000 is one of the best tyres I've had fitted to my ZT-T 190.
Having owned the car for coming up 9 years, and having Vredestein Sessanta, Falken FK452 and FK453, Avon ZZ3's and Goodyear F1 Ays2's fitted, I would say the Nexen performed the best of all. The bonus is they are around £62 fitted per wheel! |

Keith has done a good list IMO
But, another vote here for the Nexen 8000s for road use, on track, I'd say no The Vredestein Ultrac Vortis are great tyres; I highly rate them; Kumho KU39s, another good tyre, but not sure re track etc... IMO; if you want to do a few track days; get decent road tyres and then get a cacky set of alloys and stick more track day focussed tyres on those! I do probably 2-3 track days a year, if that, in my M5 and have my normal alloys (Works - with Vredestein tyres) and track day alloys (OEM 19" alloys with Toyo 888s on them) Even though the 888s are road legal; they're scary in anything but hot/dry conditions IMO, s best left for focussed alloys/track days etc |
