Alloy wheel colour choice and opinions on City Powdercoating
Hi
What colour do people think look best on wheels for an X-Power Grey ZT-T Was thinking either standard sparkle silver, black or a dark grey. Also, has anyone used City Powdercoating in Birmingham for the standard sparkle silver - was it a good match? I'm worried that a "standard" silver coating won't look as good as the original finish on the wheels. Has anyone had black wheels done by them - what was the finish like, glossy, matt etc.. Thanks

Another one of those 'It's all down to individual taste' questions. Personally I'd go for silver, although grey would no doubt look smart as long as it's the right shade. I'd never have black wheels on a car regardless of make and model as I think they look hideous, but lots of people have them and love them. But it's what you like that counts in the end.

Maybe conservative, I'd go for Silver sparkle..black is ok for tyres, not for wheels, imho.

Alloy wheel colour choice
If you fancy metallic grey then my Star Spoke 17 inch wheels are Ferric Grey, a BMW colour and look very cool on my BRG Contemporary.

Silver Sparkle gets my vote.
Shadow chrome is a maybe. Black gloss or Matt is not for me. Photo shop the colour you want onto your car. But as said before your car, your choice.

Original wheels likely would have been a grey colour, stone is grey isnt it :P But then it is Rover, so they werent, they would have been wooden (walnut? :P) then after project drive they became plastic lol Seriously my opinion on the OP though, silver for me, as black and dark grey, especially at this time of year, just looks dull and dirty. Shadow chrome does look good though, but only when they've been cleaned, again to me, they look dull when they havent. Black also can look like steel wheels where the wheel trims have been removed. I have seen pictures of gridspokes (I apologise, I cannot recall who they belonged to) that where shadow chrome on the face, blending to black (or very dark grey) towards the inside of the wheel. They were rather spectacular though.

I had my wheels re-coated at City Powder Coaters in silver sparkle about 2 or 3 years ago. Initially I was happy with the finish, it was ok for the price. But you get what you pay for and now they are starting to corrode again, pretty well all over the place.

Ive taken a mate to have both his and his wifes cars done recently and he left the car with them both times and he supplied 4 brand new tyres to be fitted when they had done them. Car back in two days and a fantastic finish £180 per car. He is delighted.
Oh and silver sparkle everytime I dont like dark alloys. |
