Default Personal line interior?

Hello All,

I'm after a pre project drive early rover 75 auto as a second car and something quite rare or unusual to keep the MG company lol as i was looking on ebay for such a car i came across this one, im not really clued up on pre-facelift 75's as most of my dealings have been with facelift models but is this a cloth personal line interior? if so is it something thats quite rare? as ive never seen this before.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1999Rover-...item3370da3d49

Many thanks

Martin

No I do not think so, It's a standard, but not often chosen colour.

I believe that is an Aubergine cloth PL interior, because along with the seats it has the co-ordinated carpets, SW, dash top, door cards & carpets.

Looks like a cracking buy for no money at all.

Not convinced seats and carpets are the colour it looks, IMO could be poor rendering of colour on camera?

Am sure that's Aubergine cloth - the giveaway that it's personal line is the contrasting steering wheel rim. Looks very nice IMO - saw it a few days ago - very good value I think but probably priced sensibly to sell.

Definitely a personal line interior there, the Dorchester red models with the leather interior in that colour being my favourite.

Yes, that´s the Aubergine cloth interior. Only seen one before. If that makes it rare or not I cannot say. Might have been first ordered by Fred Spencer (who likes the cloth, working mans version) but he cancelled the order I would say that it is very unusual

I'd say that looks like a bargain for someone. Don't like the aubergine leather seats at all, think I prefer these cloth ones, but not my first choice of colour. A nice set sandstone leather seats out a Connie (for the same price as the discount you could probably negotiate) and it be a really nice car.

Just been looking at the extensive brochure from May 1999 (albeit in Swedish) Publ. E01656. Under the section for Personal Line it sates that- There are other interior colours from the personal line available for the Club and Connoiseur- models. The interior colours are Deep Sea Green, Neptune Blue and Aubergine.

So it would appear that the personal line colours-trim were available in cloth,.

In the table on the same page it states that Aubergine together with Old English White were not an option. They must have changed their minds after a while (If enough people asked for it). Aubergine was shown as only available for White Gold and Dorchester Red. Another part of the same table gives Primrose Yellow as a colour. Either with standard Ash Grey or Neptune Blue personal line. Primrose with the blue would look nice....

In publication number 5646 (1999) Aubergine Leather or Velour is recommended for Arran white,Raven black,Moonstone green,White gold,Dorchester red and Pewter grey.
I vividly remember a Pewter grey/Aubergine leather 75 in the Rover showroom in Milano in 2000.It was really stunning.
