Default Should we have purist forum ?

Should we have purist forum ? ( For nerds like me).
I just love things to be as best as you can get.......... (make them, as close to their original perfection as you can get).

No - I think the whole forum should be for those who like things to be as intended by the designer.

A subsection should be created for the botchers, where individuals can share the latest ideas about which orifice to stuff non-OEM thermostats, fitting Vauxhall Viva engine mountings etc.

What about the bits that were original but far from perfect?

Head gaskets and slave cylinders come to mind.

I like to think we are a broad church, and if you want to set up a purist subsection then why not - it will be fun reading it.

Hi.
Yes you are right.
It's all very well wanting everything purist and all very well not wanting inline thermostats and other modifications but we need to realise these cars as yet dont have the back up others do.
Obtaining difficult spares is getting harder by the day, MGB, Morris Minors Minis, Beetles etc have many different companies sourcing or making parts, we don't have that level of service so often to keep the cars on the road it can be modify and make do, great if you have lots of cash and the car is a hobby, many though don't have the money and the car is a daily drive.

Be purist if you want but lets hope it doesn't turn into "you shouldn't be doing this and that to a 75". Each to their own and for their own reasons, finances skill levels etc.

Each to their own, its my car I can do what I want with it within reason, its personal taste, anything to make it more comfy, and desirable.
if one wants to stick too the basics so be it, but dont come on here and knock those that dont. a lot of the original parts put on our car were not fit for purpose.

As 99% of owners are just that... owners, and 1% are total purists who want concourse condition out of the box type cars then the later definitely needs to be the sub set...

and I have never botched anything... I have been creative, inventive and adaptive...

Cool

My ZTT V8 is near as dam it to be being in the same condition as day it rolled off of the production line. Poverty spec car then and almost poverty spec now. Has no toys other than the supercharger, Xpower back boxes, walnut dashboard and matching steering wheel. And it will stay like this till I sell it.

Banana on the other hand is far from being the same car when it came off of the line back in 2004.

To each our own.

Before our cars achieve real collector's status it will take a long time and will not happen during my lifetime..
I have done a number of mods to my ZTT to achieve the standards I required.
I had no choice when I bought the car in October 2005 as it was probably the last one registered in Italy and it was very basic to say the least. Some of the modifications are so subtle that no one is going to notice, but they give me pleasure every timr I sit in the car.
Having said that I would have nothing against a perfectly standard but fully equipped factory fresh 75.
