Recently purchased a 75 and need to do alot to it.
As much as I'm liking the Crowns which are on it at the moment, the 11 spokes on my MK1 ZS are tempting me to 'upgrade'. I want to get hold of a set of 18" 11 spokes but dont think they'd suit the 75 at all. I suspect Straights would suit a MK1 75 better than the other 18" alloys like Hairpins, Grids or 11 spokes.

I don't dislike Crowns, it's the size that's wrong.. In my opinion the only styling flaw on early 75's was the huge gap between tyre and wheelarch.
I am obviously biased, but for me it's 11 spokes all the time. |

The thing is, the whole point of the 75 was its ride quality and, as has been mentioned, its going to ride best on the crowns. It just doesn't feel the same on Serpents or Meteors. Although they do look good. I've got Unions which is a good compromise. If you want big wheels, buy at ZT!

I have a preference for 15" wheels for comfort, but 16" and 18" wheels play a part in my modern lifestyle. As do 13" wheels Brian |

I use them in the winter with snow tyres on but in the spring the proper wheels have to go back on. I agree that the ride is more gentle but I catch kerbs and speed bumps because the car is too low especially with weight in the car.
Sorry guys but the 18" Chrome Hairpins are for me.

I'm replacing my 16" unions with a set of 15" crowns next week. Much better ride quality with less road noise, cheaper tyres, less vibration and the handling is just as good/bad.
Another vote for the humble 15" crown alloy wheel.

That's the spirit Ross! I did the same - my car originally came with Unions.
I'm much happier with the Crowns, even though they are in a terrile state I far prefer them to semi-decent Unions.
