Default Damsel flies

IMG_6160.jpgHere's my best attempt at an insect so far.....
This is without a Macro lens. Just using my Tamron 18-200 lens at full zoom on manual focus.

What did surprise me was the quality my phone could achieve:

Good shot. You can see your zoom just does not have that pin sharp look to it. It is much as I would expect. The Canon macro lens would be much better. Of course it helps if the little blighters do not wiggle and your hands do not move

Also if you enjoy using the zoom and chasing the insects around at least you will know if you want to continue with the insect macro shots.

The blue one is the male, defined by the two pure blue segment and the end of its body. Catching a mating pair is fab, nicely done

As Paul says, the enjoyment is chasing them, for me too is the fieldcraft, the stalking and the behaviour. High sun I find they tend to enjoy basking so they're more approachable.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, it's not perfect but think it was as good as I could expect to get with my current kit.
Think I will be grabbing a new lens before the week is out..

It is rather fun getting out and about with the camera and and a nice feeling when you manage to catch a good shot that you are pleased with...

Exactly, It is like small game hunting but you shoot with a camera. Also, usually it is a nice day, there are lots of flowers and you get a bit of a walk.

Sorry, I'm trying to post a bigger picture but I don't seem to be able to this evening..

This one I took on my DSLR, it's the same as the one I showed in post two, with the exception of the one in post two was taken on my phone....
