Default Caravan Insurance ?

Although it is not a legality, what is the advantage of having caravan insurance.

We have a 15 year old Elddis 4 berth in good condition with all the luxuries needed for a comfortable holiday. I know the car insurance covers 3rd party when towing, what else besides the van does the extra insurance cover.

What should I expect to pay annually for cover?

Thanks in advance

Craig.

There are different levels of cover, when we first bought ours, there was a choice of,basic cover medium cover and the full package. We were paying around £20 a month for medium cover,on a new for Los basis. Ie total loss of caravan and the policy would pay for a like for like replacement.

On a market value policy, expect to pay about £130-170 per year.
The two major insurers are Caravam club insurance, and Caravan Guard,we are with the latter, and have been since we owned the caravan.

Just bought cover through the caravan and camping club. Covers van, contents, PL, legal costs and a few other odds and ends for £57.
Can't be too bad.

I mainly took it because, reading between the lines, the caravan is not covered if it damages another vehicle when not attached to the car.
So if one has an accident and the caravan comes unhitched.......
