Sorry to be a party pooper, but POL is a waste of time IMO, hundreds of MGR and BL car clubs in a field, very little in the way of toilet facilities, very little in the way of food outlets, apart from rip your eyeballs out prices ones, no format to the show, no commentary, no trade stands, and usually bladdy freezing. I was led to believe it was THE MGR event of the year, how wrong I was, been, seen ,done it, won't be going again.

Some fair comments there Rich, but I usually go as it is one of the biggest gatherings of BMC/BL cars, including many that I have owned over the years. So, it is a bit of nostalgia trip for me. And it is free, so we cannot expect too much in the way of facilities, entertainment etc. I gather that the local council allow POL to use the park on the condition that no trading takes place, hence no autojumble etc. I always take my own food (sandwiches, flask of tea) to car shows, to avoid rip-off prices and queuing for really unhealthy bad food. The only thing that put me off last year was some of the lads in their heavily modified ZRs/ZSs trying to outdo each other with respect to 'my stereo is louder than yours' (showing my age here a bit !)

It tends to be cold, but just wrap up - it is not usually a shorts and tee-shirt day out !

Cheers

Pete

I suppose the same could be said for the Carter Bar meet that I organise each year, but there is the option of travelling a few miles further north to the cafe, for food ,drink, warmth, and toilet facilities, although there is generally a catering van on site.
