Outside temperature sensor
Is this easily replaced? The outside temperature reading on the dashboard keeps dropping back to -30 then gradually works it’s way back to the proper temperature before returning to -30. It’s on Banana.

Yes, easiest to remove the bumper although you could probably manage by removing the undertray.

Hi Bob. There should only be one temp sensor on Banana. I think from memory it’s domed in shape. Just clicks into the lower part of the bumper behind the spot/fog light area. Just need the under cover off to get to it.There are two for the diesel. The other one is for the fbh activation when it’s cold enough to trigger it.

If not done already, I'd suggest checking the wiring/connector to the sensor. From your description, it seems to me the sensor works when the power is available. Sensors are usually very robust.

Check the connector on the sensor itself, also the connector to the right of the car (with bumper off, it's easier) when standing in front of the car, both of mine showed blue verdigris. a good clean with contact cleaner and a stiff brush, then Vaseline sorted my -30 problem.
