Red face Synergy/other Digital Tuning Boxes

Looking for a bit of advice really.....

The synergy 2a that works with the Pierburg maf seems to be the one most frequently recommended. Does this fulfil the same function as other digital engine tuning boxes, such as the Diesel express one that attaches to the fuel rail or should they be used in conjunction with one another?

Any advice happily received!!

Default Synergy

The Synergy modules fit between the Maf sensor and the fuel rail pressure sensor. They work very well. There is also a new kid on the block with the
'160 upgrade' which is receiving rave reports and is performed on the ECU so there is no module.
