Thumbs up Valeo key fob, broken

as title, key fob button fractured last week end the unlock one of course, eventually would get worse over time, so needs a replacement.

Google'd Valeo and found a cheap fix at just £2.99, that's right a new key fob for less than than three pounds! Ordered 2 while I was at it for £8.39 inc. p&p.

Arrived today, removed back of original with PCB and fitted to new fob, pulled out blade from both and refitted original blade in new case, next fitted original back (with chip) to new fob and hey presto a new working key fob for very little money.

Of course those of you with saloons could have the new blade cut to same pattern as OEM key, and keep original fob and blade as a spare just in case you lock your keys in the boot, even if found by a no-good what's it, with a PCB-less case and immobiliser chip, they can't start the car.

Wiggle side to side and pull, looks like it's one part but it isn't:
case components are:

Top case
Bottom case
Key blade

+ of course internal PCB and chip for immobilser.

I pulled blade from replacement first, then attacked original Valeo (from build date Nov 2002 car)

Good luck

The link provides a cheap enough fix, but at the price I would have thought a copy of the original Valeo item.

Depending on the quality of the blade it could have been cut a independant key cutting shop.

Glad your sorted.

Thanks...found this post with a good pic and description, although my blade doesn't have the roll pin. The "open" button on mine has come away so just a case of swapping the blade and PCB into a new top cover and use the old bottom cover with the transponder:-

Good find that picture worth a 1,000 words they say, mine had no roll pin either, just a push (interference) fit -effective and cheap at twice the price.
