You don't need to make the bolts 'captive' it works just as well without!

The star washers must be to make the bolts "captive" as you say.

As trikey says, they dont need to be captive, but it makes it easier, when you only have two hands lol. That is how my strap came, only the bag of bolts was attached to the strap. There was something that needed to be swapped over in the middle of the strap, (see the second photo) I cannot remember what it was for, (I think it was a locating block or isolator for the heat shield)

It isnt a difficult job at all to do, a little time consuming for the prep.

My strap folded when I squeezed it

Just got one today...

No screw kit, and looks a bit bent.

Is it supposed to be not quite parallel, with each main side tapering in a little?

They do indeed taper slightly. The bolts on mine were attached to one of the legs and tucked below the wrapping. The original bolts should be perfectly serviceable should it come to it though.

Cheers.

It pretty much looks like it was welded by my mum.

Looks terribly weak.

How on earth it can take 60Kg of fuel, plus the weight of the tank.... will remain a mystery to me.

Spreading the load over 5 points , and tensile strength of the straps from the 4 corners.

Yet another job for my ZT, her rear underside doesn't look at all pleasant.

The tank strap from Rimmers... is it hit and miss whether the bolts are included?

Seems to be.

I also ordered a xenon sensor which was supposed to have all the brackets etc... Just came as a bare sensor with the link arm... sigh.

Things are starting to scrape the barrel now regarding spares/parts.
