HGV driver anticipated well, could have been a whole lot worse if he was alongside when it happened.

Respect to the HGV driver who clearly saw and, most importantly, understood what was happening and acted perfectly avoiding what could easliy have been much, much worse.

I'm at something of a loss as to what went through the head of the tow car driver when they hitched up a tranny van to their 4x4.

Surely common sense would kick in? Apparently not .

Wouldn't it be nice to know that the driver got a bill from the Police/Highways Agency etc. etc for all the time, effort and (public/taxpayers) costs they caused by their stupidity.

Andy.

I often see IDIOTS towing too fast and using the outside lane on the motorways. Years ago I used to work as a recovery driver and recovered many caravans and trailers from similar incidents. We used to tow a 6 berth Bailey Corsair behind a Renault Espace never had any problems because commonsense always prevailed, nose weight is very important.

A load way over the towing capacity of the 4x4, with a very high centre of gravity. The driver got plenty of warning before it developed to become catastrophic, plenty of time for him to ease off or even brake to avoid it developing, but it was ignored.

Towing capacity limit includes both the weight of the trailer and what ever is loaded on it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Agree with Harry - overweight with a high centre of gravity is a recipe for disaster.

They should have used something a bit heavier than the Freelander as the tow vehicle.

How did they expect to get away with that??? To tow a high top Vito on a trailer you’d need a truck to be safe!

Terwaaaat!!!
