Default Got the front suspension strut off

Hi all,

After my Wedgewood Blue tourer snapped a spring while sitting doing nothing I've just managed to find some time to get the offending item off.

With grateful thanks to the various threads about how to do this, all was going very nicely.....

But the bottom ball joint proved to be a bit stubborn . In the same sense that a Moto GP bike is a bit quick.

Particularly annoying as the stuff I was expecting to be an absolute pain - the pinch bolt and persuading the damper from the hub were easy. Plenty of Plusgas left to soak in, a good 6 sided socket and a breaker bar and out came the bolt. Took a bit of backwards and forwards and extra lube but out she came.

And then the hub just slid away from the damper. .

It took me longer to get the bottom ball joint out than the rest of it all together. . Grateful thanks to all those that have contributed to the various "How to's" and "Suggestions" in the threads about getting the little blighter out.

Anyway, she's out now and I’ve just go to dismantle and rebuild.

Oh, and the drop links that I think are original (only about 19 years old and 90K) are absolutely fine, still "firm" with no play at all .

Here she is:

Andy.

Dont the two posts above prove something we all know? We have to put these people making the rubbish replacements in their place, and soon.

Got it out of the garage to see where the screw I found on the floor might have come from. It was one of the screws from the brake cooling ducts but when I looked they all appeared to be in place, so not sure where it came from, so I put it in my spares box.

Housed Gavin's ZT in a little green tent on the driveway, it's on ramps awaiting surgery to the offside sill, back and front.

The very same car required an injector, something Mickyboy sorted out at very short notice

So sill repair, brake pipes, an exhaust tailpipe, sound about right for a 17 year old ZT diesel with 159,000 miles on the clock.

You have to love these cars, they really are the Hotel California of the motor world

Cool

Limped the Bear home with stuck on brake calliper. Booked in to the garage next week. Had this problem before. Last time it was flexi pipe that had collapsed.

You never know...

For folks that were following the thread, a welding shield knocked up and installed to ensure the ‘tent’ doesn’t suffer any damage while the sills are being returned to ‘as new’ condition.
