Default throttle High revving

Hi Everybody
My MG 190 petrol 2002 has a problem with high revving when cold ,Ive removed the throttle body and cleaned and replaced the gasket set, but sometimes when its cold pulling up to a junction its upto 2000 rpm then drops slowly,i cant find any air leaks,ive read something about a pedal sensor ,would my car have this ?? or any other ideas please.Its perfect when the engine is warmed up though ??

Sounds like either a split breather or a knackered idle valve. But if you've already looked at those then I'm out of ideas.

Have you examined the idle valve, not the throttle?

Have you replaced this kit on the throttle body?

Hi Yes that is the kit ive used and cleaned everything up too.

Yes i removed it cleaned it but didnt look anything obvious wrong but maybe i need try a replacement.

Have a look at the rubber hose that connects the air filter to the throttle body, if this has any leaks or not sealing properly then your revs will rise.

Hi Trikey my car has an after market air filter fitted so would it still have that hose somewhere ?

Is it the more solid plastic hose that inserts into the throttle body as it seems to have a collar to hold it in and it aint very good if its that one.
