Default Water based gloss?

I've spent ages, preparing a surface to paint (my lawn mower) today and bought some gloss. I hadn't realised that it was water based. It's horrible! It doesn't flow, doesn't cover and you can see all the brushmarks and "pulls" in the paint. What a waste of time and money. I'll be wet and drying again and buying some good, old fahioned, environment damaging, oil based gloss to do the job properly!

When I had the firefrost 75 I got an aerosol can made up and was told it was water based, I also was given lacquer that was spirit based????.... a bit odd, the basecoat was awful, I just couldn't get it right. Terrible paint.

You cannot beat paint high in VOC

Water based paint, nope, I like a paint that takes four hours to be touch dry, and sixteen hours between coats, and for a gloss like glass, rubbed down between each coat with progressively finer grades of wet and dry paper.

I once had a comment about my "UPVC" window sills, nope they're painted timber.

Mind you I don't think twice about spending four to five weeks painting a single room

unfortunately we are gonna have to get used to it as everything will be waterbased sooneven car paint is now.normally with this gloss you need at least 2-3 coats of underlay and even that's water based as well.

Do it in 2 pack and you never need to do it again
You might need to prime the area you have already painted, then either get 1 k base coat in the colour you want then a 2 k clear finish if you want high gloss or just get the base coat colour in a 2k no clear required

We've a lot of fences and I use cuprinol each year. TBH it's useless especially up here with so much rain. Looks as if I'll need to get someone in to fit new posts and I'll be fitting slats, more money that's needed elsewhere.

It's a bit of a myth really. There have been some restrictions put in place but if you take your car to a bodyshop the chances are the paint they are using will contain isocyanates, including water based ones.
