It seems to be the prevailing opinion of the S-Type. However it does demonstrate how over priced the ZT V8 is. Its much much more of a car, even if it does look like an Eastbourne funeral directors car.

As above it's a halo car in the range and demand outstrips supply.

I'm not sure BMW and MB V8 are really a competitor to the MGV8, perhaps a Holden V8. Although there are few cars the same, bit of a one off.
Makes a change on here normally it's members complaining about cars too low a price.

New not much was a competitor really, it was a low volume niche private seller competing against more expensive German fleet cars. Second hand is a different story. Its competing against those same German cars that are now cheaper as well as faster and better made in a totally private market, that is looking for value.

I'm not so sure it is competitor, to say the the BMW V8. They may well be but the market puts it at a higher price because, IMHO of it's rarity.

The V8 variants are expensive because of their appeal as a bit of a sleeper, and their limited edition of only 883 cars. How many of those still exist?

Im with Simon, a nice supercharged Jag would be a better buy if you want value for money.
Personally though, for a luxury car I can afford thats a little bit different with bags of appeal I cant help myself from wanting a BMW E38 7 Series, either 740 or 750iL models.

Its not competing against the BMW V8s , its hardly even a 330i competitor.

It's an individual choice, let's face it who wants to be accociated with bmw driver's, and the amount of car's made wouldn't fill an average tesco car park. You want you pay, and if you have ever driven one you wouldn't be asking the question

I agree i would prefer a 260 to a 330i any day, but the 330i is the technically better car, and that how most people think.

I would probably pay a bit more for a 260 than a 330i, but some of the prices are daft for 10 year old Rover.

It's one of the last truly British made cars on the road from a brand that was British owned at the time of its demise. Yes it has an American engine, but so what. They're rare cars and if you want one, you have to pay more for the privelige. Trying to say something German is more powerful is a bit of a moot point as not everyone is interested in power, some just want something more unique, something different.
