It simply isnt worth the trouble of retro fitting one. It wont be accurate anyway.

Brim the tank.
000 the trip on the dash.
Brim it again when you get down to 1/4.
Calculate (method below)

Divide the number of lt needed to refill the tank by 4.55 (4.55 lt to 1 gallon)
Divide the miles covered by the number of gallons used. Simples.

Eg: Ive just filled up with 33.81 lts.
therefore, 33.81 lt divided by 4.55 = 7.43 gallons.
I have travelled 366 miles since my previous fill up.
therefore, 366 divided by 7.43 = 49.26 mpg.
