My first 75 which was a Y reg also appears to have been turned into various white goods or chinese made nuts and bolts.

Save her from French scrapyard and she’s yours – free!
Strange and sad. But read on folks for a possible bargain (no promises). BV02XPX went with me last week for a short holiday in France but did not come back. Clutch cylinder failed (not the first time) and I had no Euro breakdown cover. Because of other problems that I have not money or expertise to solve – and for family holiday reasons – I very regretfully left her with a French garage. Had little choice. My understanding is they plan to scrap her next week. Shame in many ways. Engine still great, lovely car.
Timbo is right that she was without MOT – I’d simply not spotted that fact (Idiot, I know). But she’d had new front discs and pads fitted the previous week.
How might she be saved? Well, because I did not have V5 with me when she broke down the French garage is waiting for me to send that over. They apparently have no interest except to get rid of her and could probably be persuaded to part with her free or for a nominal sum if someone approaches them – with my V5 – and with the means to bring her home.
I’m willing to help that happen even though time is short. Please contact me pronto if you’re interested.
Other things you should know. She’s quite high spec Connoisseur Saloon (2.0 diesel manual) with headlamp jets, driver seat memory, heated front seats, all electric windows etc. Midnight (I think) Blue in colour. But: radio aerial has failed, intermittent probs with reversing sensors, sill and doorhandle trims to front doors all loose or off… and some clown dented the front N/S wing while she was parked up one evening (left no note or anything).
There you have it, and if you think you’d like to recover her in some way I will do all I can – starting by contacting the garage in Pontivy, Brittany – to make that possible. I don’t want any cash for her so unless there’s an insuperable problem with paperwork I’ve already signed for the French garage I would sign her over to you for a nominal £10.

Revisiting this quickly before work, I realise this post would be more likely to attract attention if I posted as a new thread (Save her from French scrapyard and she's yours!), not just an answer to Very Strange. But in haste I can't see how to start new post. Help anyone? Gotta dash...

One thing for anyone interested in this car, does the French garage have any fee's owing on the car for (1) breakdown recovery, (2) storage charges?

These would be payable by the owner!

Tom.

Why not send the French garage the parts needed to repair the fault, then go and pick her up and drive her back to the U.K.

To be honest French Garages are not very good with old Rovers. If it is something simple like a Master cylinder I would offer to do it for the owner so he could drive it back to the UK
