Default Toaf

Can anyone send me the TOAF files, I cannot download from TOAF site and I don’t get a reply from them despite several emails. My email address is in my contact profile and you can use the free program from wetransfer.com to send big files. Greatly appreciate any assistance.

I’m interested in TOAF’s diagnostics features and I had no trouble downloading the software, but not being a Windows user, I’m unsure what to do with the various module files and the USB serial driver. Does launching TOAF automatically configure these or do I unpack and put them somewhere? The developers seem uncontactable at the moment.

I too am a novice when it comes to Windows as I’ve used Mac since about 1994 and things like drivers are a mystery as are port settings. But I just downloaded the programme when it first came out and the drivers, clicked and installed the programme. It didn’t work at first and I found some other drivers on-line after a search for VW KKL, sorry can’t remember where. Basically it’s just the programme and the drivers to install, all the other files like SRS tool are extras.
I never tried configuring the drivers, wouldn’t know how and it’s hard enough finding where Windows hides stuff. Same with port settings, I just let the programme connect to whichever USB port it wanted. Sometime later I switched to an old serial Ediabas RS232 cable which I’d used for the Remote T4 project. I still use the serial cable as it seems more reliable than the USB type.
Sadly the Poles retreated into isolationist mode after their welcome on here. Shame, as I’ve heard they had Toaf workshops and there was even talk of an Android version which I would have loved in my Xtrons.

Good luck

Ah, fellow Mac user; I feel you pain and bewilderment with trying to understand where Windows puts things. Mind you, os10 (Unix) isn't that much better IMO! So, if I install TOAF, it will install the UBS serial driver automatically, provided I have it in the same directory? Or will it call it when I first try connecting? Thanks

Quite happy with OS10 onwards, used to have to change a few things on the earlier operating systems (eg. OS 7 & 8 virtual memory, now everything just works).

Going back a bit but I think I installed Toaf and then tried to install the drivers supplied, but Toaf wouldn’t connect to the car. Then (found it) used this site for the drivers http://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/s...ble-on-windows which worked. Didn’t mess about with directories or anything, just clicked and installed without specifying a path, and then tried Toaf on the car and it worked. Also a bit later tried it on a Windows 10 computer, worked too but then I had to select the port in Toaf, and just tried the USB in a different port until it worked. Very technically, marked the working USB port with a white crayon rather than delve into the mysteries of Windows port settings.

I've got a half functional T4 here, but it's gathering dust as I prefer Toaf. You wouldn't believe the number of hours I've wasted trying to get it working (Windows again), but now when my daughter has bought a ZS180 I'm going to have to put on sackcloth and try again.

Good luck

Be very careful with cables. There are various on eBay, apparently the same spec, but some DO NOT work, no matter what you do.

This is identical the one I got to work - the previous (black) one just didn't, and I spent many hours thinking there was something wrong with TOAF, the laptop etc.

And don't forget you have to bridge pins 7 & 8

Whatever you do with TOAF make sure you back up the car setting before you clear or alter anything. That way if you do something wrong you can reset it. Without a back up your car will basically be fubar

Don't suppose I can trouble you for the software installer? I did have it on an old laptop that I reformatted recently but stupidly forgot to save beforehand. Now I find the download site at http://toaf.roverki.eu isn't responding. Down for a few days now. Thanks David
