Yup that why I was under there , and having a peer prior to launching up the M6 to the nano.

it was tinkling on the exhaust when the motor was shut off .

Its not dropped , still firmly fixed at all point s , rather more just seems the edges have bent downwards and inwards on the front end ?

Gave the shield a tweak and will see how it goes .

Hi.
I have spent a couple of days on jobs that have been left and have also spent some time on running issues that I have now sorted out.
I decided to replace the mount today.
The job wasn't too bad at all, with the hardest part cutting through the alloy part of the bush with a hacksaw blade, I made two cuts at 180 degrees to each other and once done the mount came out of the holder easily.
Fitting of the bush was fiddly though especially with all of the Fairy Liquid on your hands!
The result in my mind is brilliant, my old bush was really sloppy and the Powerflex bush has cured a slight clutch judder, a general sloppy feeling to the drive and a knock from the back box on starting, There is a slight increase in vibration at tick over but to drive the car with all the improvements is the best trade off in the world.

I have just swapped from the red Powerflex mount to the Chinese OEM mount.

It has solved the vibrations I was getting at 1800rpm. The engine feels smoother at all revs now. I looked at the Powerflex mount and it was starting to wear and flake. I only had it on the car for about 8000 miles.

looking at the picture of your yellow bush it seems you may have gauged a piece out of the lip if so look at it regular as this could tear though or i maybe wrong it just look slike it to me at the top, Arctic.

Hi Arctic.
I see what you mean on the Photo, Its actually due to the reflection of light on the holder, the bush is fine with no gouges. I am though keeping a beady eye on the bush

As some of you may recall I have the Latest yellow bush on my Diesel Auto, and Its pretty good, but could be just a tiny bit better ..

A while ago I swapped my Peirburg MAF for a Proper Bosch , ( with compensator now off)
and a few days ago I switched off the synergy TU3 side , just to get used to the old ways .. in preparation for removing the Synergy .

And Guess ... the tiny bit of vibes I was getting have disappeared.
its all smooth again ..

Always had the feeling the synergy did " Roughen up the motor a bit) but
this was always offset by the grunt/grin factor .

So this and the extra torque going through the bushes need to be allowed for !.. as I'm sure none of the makers of any bushes have made allowances for this mod !!

I am about to replace the lower engine mount on my diesel and have concluded that the powerflex option is not the way to go for me at least.

The collar that has been drifted out has to contain more material than the replacement powerflex one, given that it fills it, therefore making it substancially wider on the bolt it floats on.

The powerflex bush is only retained within the frame of the mount, not the mount plus the collar as per OEM that by it's mass has to be more rigid.The powerflex mount is only retained by it's outer lips either side of the frame, and has a void behind it.

This narrower bush therefore must be creating a pivot point on the mounting bolt, given it is much narrrower in width than the oem one.This explains latereral movement and displacement experienced by other members.

The only replacement bush imho that could be anywhere as effective as the oem one, would have to have the same length to be pressed into the collar that is being drifted out, that should be left in situ, thereby retaining its orginal design tolerances, albeit with a bush of a different material.

So I shall be trying the re designed rowe one.

I wwuld be very interested in how it works out with the Rowe mount...

I replaced mine with a used, modified Mondeo mount coming up to three years ago and I have had the Synergy in use for all of that time. I have had no issues what so ever in all of that time.
