This site is OK but the info is a lot less comprehensive than what Reebs has available. According to the site my ZT was one of 137 1.8T 160 saloons produced in Anthricate but there was no distinction between standard and + spec. I PM'd Reebs asking if he could find out how many, like mine, were + spec. His response was much more detailed than that, turns out mine is one of only 16 in Anthracite 1.8T ZT160+s with the same trim levels etc!

Is the serial number in the VIN the total number of vehicles from the factory, ie ZT's, ZRs, 75's etc?

Yes and no. In theory yes but there are gaps in the numbers. For example pre-production 75s started with 000xxx, but then when full production started they assigned the first VIN 100001 and so on. There are other examples of gaps and jumps too, so you can't take it as an indication of the total number of cars built.

Thanks Reebs.
Mine shows as a Contemporary, which it isn't. AFAIK no Contemporaries made it to Australia; I certainly haven't seen one up for sale. Got to see if I can track down the VIN for my deceased ZT, I think my 75 may have rolled out of the factory at a similar time to the Z. |

Some of the data input descriptions were done shall we say without much care at the factory, so for example all exported 75s have Contemporary against them! I have been cross referencing the entries against their specified trim levels and VIN identifiers to 'correct' these errors somewhat were possible. Another faux par is that on the original data (which that other site is using) Nearly all ZTs have a model year entry of 2001 by default, even though the VIN number clearly identifies the model year. Again all rectified for our version of the database here

Is there any data as to how many ZTs and 75s made it to Australia?
