The Scimitar was a truly great car Rob. They're extremely rare now, so if you see a nice one for sale, buy it. The best one is the SE5A - slightly later than the SE5 and much prettier. The SE6 was ruined by the change of shape and mixed size headlamps. The SE5A is very light being fibre-glass, but it's got bucket loads of power due to the 3.0 litre V6.

It's probably the most comfortable car I've ever driven too. The first time I drove mine to Switzerland, it took us nineteen hours to do the 620 miles (snow absolutely everwhere, see pic below). We paused once for ten minutes to refuel, otherwise it was non-stop. I got out the other end and still felt OK, after literally 19 hours' driving.

Ah so many to choose from.
I Can't choose one as I loved both of these cars.

1977 3 litre Granada Ghia in silver, me and the mates thought we were the Sweeney.

1991 Volvo 940 GLE 2300 16v one of only 500 produced. Got photos of her somewhere will dig them out. .

I also had a Dolomite Sprint (think you'll find yours was a 2 litre Ken like mine, not an 1850 ). I drove it around for about a year with awul propshaft vibration because the central support had perished. Didn't get around to replacing it until about a week before I sold the car.

I really liked the Sprint and have often thought about getting another.

I thought it was an 1850 just shows how the old memory goes  I expect in 20 years time my 1.8t 75 will suddenly become a V6 diesel with LPG tank in the boot if my memory is anything to go by

or possibly even a V8  or knowing me a 1.4 45

but the home will let me have a picture by my bed

I have thought about getting another as well, but my first choice would be a Hillman Super Imp, strange I know but I loved mine and so easy to repair

speaking of the Scimitar, there was a bloke that lived not far from me had one in his yard for restoration, it was all more or less complete, the engine was stored in the shed and the car sat outside under a tarpaulin.
Then, one day a careless builder next door dropped a pallet of blocks on it.
What was worse, all he said was, "good job it was not a new one then"
the insurance companies are still fighting that one.

Charming. Obviously an idiot builder.

My SE5A is still on the road according to the DVLA website.
