It is always a good idea to take any opportunity to change the transmission fluid. They said it was "lifetime" fluid when new but of course they didn't expect the cars to be running 20 years on. A fluid change will often cure minor hard change problems.
Always make sure you use the correct fluid as the boxes tend to be very fussy and always make sure the car is level and the fluid is at the correct temperature when checking the level.
