I don't know the car, but a facelift SE should have cruise control and Apex alloys. Looks like a very late registered Mk1 that's had it's bumpers swapped to appear younger
Personally, I'd want to put it back to the original spec it left the factory with Forget the above.....I've just read to the bottom of the advert....!!!

There is a story to this car, the only one in zircon, it is how it left the factory, it started life as mk1 but ended up as it is now.
I'll blowed if I can remember where I read about it. |

the advert says "
The chassis number is 002, the second car built and arguably the first true Mk1 260. (Chassis number 001 was a concept car, known as the XP500.) The car was retained by MG Rover up to its closure and sold off in 2006 with a ‘facelift’. It was registered in 2006" macafee2 |

Is the gearstick supposed to be as high as that one? Or is it as in the post mentioned above, that it wasnt trimmed corrcetly?

the engine bay doesnt look right to me either, but it is a development car after all. There will probably be a lot of information on the twosixties forum though.
There also looks to be a button on just in front of the gearstick, to the left - the gearstick may be from a test gearbox? Which was shortened for 'production'. It would be a brave person to take it on at that price, unless it was sorted, because 'you' would be taking it on.
