Changed the MAF, cleaned the egr which wasn’t bad, new filters air and pcv, checked plenum, pollen filter is black but didn’t have a new one , new fuel filter filled with forte, ran for 30 seconds then switched off. See how it goes tomorrow!! Replaced blown rear plate bulb and top fir tree clip in the door card which keeps coming off. Found out last week that the locking key on the daily is a bit mashed up, think it’s been hammered on in the past. Swapped lockers for normal nuts.

Got new handbrake shoes on the drivers side. Only took 4 hours this time
It's those retaining pins, the rest is easy. Snow expected next week from tomorrow onwards so it might be a while before I can go for a drive and start bedding them in properly.

Decided to look at a few issues. The car has a leak in both sides of the boot, the nearside rear quarter cubby hole is wet so I think it might be the vent and the off side sat nav wiring is wet so possibly waist trim. The boot board and both trim sides were removed and a liberal helping of talc applied. I found quite a bit of old wiring from its earlier life that I didn’t know was there, I’ve removed loads allready over the years. I also need to have a look at the rear glass tail gate screen that intermittently opens itself? Whilst stripping the trim out I found a nice sticker that dates the rear quarter trims as 4/4/05

Started the zt 190 this morning to move it - damn it - exhaust leak. Givem that the whole system less the stainless back box is original '04, that's not bad really.
Anyway, once underneath found the rear downpipe lambda fell out of the pipe! So removed the boss, cleaned it up and after a bit of faff, migged it back in, on my back with my eyes closed, one blob at a time. It won't win me a prize at a welding competition, but it's pretty good. What suprised me was that the boss is only welded to the outer pipe. The hardest job was unplugging the sensor behind the head - the gap that rover left there is full of lpg vaporiser... Then, in anticipation of the appocallyptical weather we're going to have next week, threw in a litre or so of oat to make up for recent topping up. I was hoping to take the trike out for a spin, but that'll have to wait... |

Drove from Grasmere (Lake district) back to Leeds, having driven up there two days earlier. Faultless pleasant drive both ways, though it would have been better if the thermostat worked (i.e closed) so that we could have some heat in the cabin.

Collected Rover from the garage, last Monday was new battery & service and pre MOT check, today they fitted the new door actuator that I got from Rimmers, doors locks & unlocks on the key as it should, 4 new flexible brake hoses ready for MOT, bosch wiper blades, new front number plate as previous one had a chunk missing, and a nice new Smiley for the rear, original was starting to de laminate. Nearly £800 gone in a week! Just hope he passes MOT in 3 weeks time.
