rust stained rear carpet

Hello
I recently bought the LPG V6 Connie that was in the for sale section to use as my daily driver, along with the diesel tourer my wife drives.

I am extremely pleased with the car, which drives and feels just right. It came with a massive stack of receipts for work done, so it has been properly maintained at considerable cost.

However, there is one oddity which I cannot find any mention of in the stack of bills..

The passenger side rear carpet has a bit of rust colored staining in the corners, and a close look shows that the heater duct under that seat is heavily stained - which tells me that the heater matrix probably ruptured and sent brown water down the duct. Drivers side seems fine. Car now uses no coolant and all is well.

So, the question is, anyone seen this happen before and is my diagnosis probably correct?

All thoughts appreciated.
