Does any one else have this problemwith the boot?
I don't know if this is in the right section ( technical maybe? ). I've noticed that sometimes the boot lid on m tourer will not unlock. At first if I knocked it out of gear then unlocked the car it would open but now it seems to be random as to whether it will open. I've also noticed that if it is unlocked then sometimes by the end of the journey it will have locked itself and is a pain to get it open again. Is my car angry at me and doing it to annoy me?! or is it the lock on the way out?

Mine does that occasionally (less than ten times in 4 years). It seems to be both locks (glass hatch and main boot), but is resolved by turning the engine on and off again

At least I know it's not just me then! I tried the starting and stopping the engine sometimes it works some times it doesn't! It occasionally seems to make a difference if I leave it in gear aswell!

Maybe the clotted cream fumes in the Devon atmosphere adversely affect the boot lock mechanism

Mine does the same, and conversely opens as well The car may be stationary, locked or unlocked, and the rear window will just unlock itself. This may occur whilst driving along as well.
Other times, the whole of the rear door locks will not open. Regardless of how many times I may lock/unlock drive etc. Then it will go for months without mis-behaving Cannot figure it out,

Does anyone remember 25's doing this? was a good while ago however it was a spike from the wiper motor that caused it on them. we used to replace the wiper motors however they then brought out a fix. trying for the life to remember what the fix was, I think it was a resistor or something. |

The 25's did indeed have a recall on the wiper motor to stop the boots from opening. Was it a resistor or capacitor? cheap and horible fix that didn't always work. Don't remember the 75's having the same trouble though - maybe worth checking the wires through the gromets from the body to the tailgate?
