Paint laquer delaminating

I have to say that the paint and bodywork on my 2004 ZT is still really good apart from the boot lip spoiler where the lacquer is starting to lift in a couple of places. I have one patch the size of a 50p piece now which is 'creeping' weekly and also I can see a couple of other places where I think its going to start on the spoiler too. Anyone else seen this or is it just mine? BTW Solar red if that makes a difference..

Over here in Australia we get paint fade and laquer peel alot when cars get to about 10 years old.
On the dark colours like Royal blue they fade on the flat panels first and then the paint starts to craze along with the clear coat.
Can really do much except get a respray done but unless you address the cracking properly in the paint it will come back.

peeling is usually caused by the lacquer not keying to the paint properly (especially in colder climates) if its started to flake, then the only solution is to remove all the existing lacquer & have it resprayed.

I'll second that, swmbo 25 is solar red and panels where the laquer/clear coat is good still come up to a great shine, however more than half the panels are now peeling and the rate of peel is increasing.

After two years of careful ownership, the lacquer started to peel on my Trophy Blue spoiler, and proceeded at a pace. Bit the bullet and had it professionally resprayed. OK so far, 3 months on.

I'm starting to have serious peeling issues on my solar red zt. It's such a shame as the car is really straight and shines up really well, these few marks spoil it! I wish I could afford to respray the car, but even just doing a panel or two is out of my price range at the min!

generally UV absorption Phil, quite common to red cars...
