Default Rover fuel tank problem

Hi all have early rover 75 2.5 v6 petrol .
Question is , I have no fuel pressure at valve under bonnet ,i have changed fuel pump
Which was spraying fuel from rear of pump by pump connections
Allso take fuel filter out from passenger side , which is early type ,steel canister, which seems UN avaliable ,but seems ok .
Fuel seems to pump from drivers side to passenger side till empty but nil from filter outlet
Need to fix soon ,losing parking space .could be scrapyard

Recently had a case of low fuel pressure (2 bar) and found that below the fuel pump is a white platform with two bayonet type fittings, somehow the connections were loose. Re-attached with a good click and pressure increased to nearly 4 bar, car started and all good.

T’was also an early car with ditto filter.

Regards

The need for a pump replacement must be related to the problem. I don't think fuel (petrol) spraying at the pump connections has ever been reported before, so tampering seems likely. From your description, the pump is delivering fuel to the filter, but it's not getting to the engine. If the filter side is filling up, then it's bleeding from the filter module by repeated attempts to start the engine. The pump only runs a few seconds if the engine doesn't start. A similar thing happens with fuel filter syndrome, but this only applies with the later filter type. Without more info, this one seems a bit odd. I wonder if the electrical connectors suggested by vitesse are (part of) the power supply to the pump. Maybe the filter element is genuinely clogged up?

EDIT: According to Rimmer, the earlier filter module Part Number WGS100031 (NLA) should be replaced with the later type WGS100032. These are selling pretty cheaply on eBay.

T-Cut - Sorry should have made it clearer: the connections I referred to are not electrical connections but rather fuel. Looking at the Rimmer’s description of the pipes from the filter to the pump there are two raised nozzles (together with the electrical level wiring). I found two bayonet type connectors that were not seated correctly on these nozzles that resulted in low fuel pressure.

I hope this makes more sense to you than to me as I know you are more familiar with the inner components (and function) of the tank than me.

Regards

Paul; I would say that your problem lies with connections internally in the tank. It won’t be ‘fuel filter syndrome’ because your 1999 car isn’t susceptible to this. It won’t be the pump because they are very reliable.

I would urge you not to be tempted to replace your original filter with the later type. That would be asking for trouble.
