locking wheel nuts
Hi everyone. I'm looking for help and advice today. Had plans to change my front discs and pads today. (75 saloon), nearside done in no time. Went to do the offside front and sheared the locking wheel nut tool. I can't get pics up at the moment but its the one that resembles a flower head in appearance. (If that makes any sense). Does anyone fairly local to Reading have one I can borrow or any suggestions for removing the bolt. Obviously I don't want to leave it with one new set and one old set of discs and pads on the car. Think this is a McGuard key of which there are many different ones so you need to find out what number it is ( should be on the key somewhere)

There's plenty of security nut remover tools out there, iirc halfords do one around £20-30

And when you get the locking nuts off, throw them away & fit normal bolts. Less hassle

Locking Bolt
If you have a good tyre fitting place on your way to Halfords It may pay to drop in there and ask if they can remove it. May cost less than a set of removal bits that may not work anyway. (what about the other wheels ?)

Hi crofts, just home from work. Did as suggested and tried ATS on the way home. No joy. The plan is to get all four locking bolts removed but the priority is the offside front to replace the disc and pads. The rear brakes were done just before I got the car. Gonna replace the locking bolts with standard bolts, as suggested by suzublo............ You know what pnstuch, that would be typical of my luck. I don't think a stud removal socket would work on these but I wish I could find another locking key on the scuttle....If only life were that simple. Thanks guys.
