What made it worse was as we were moving to my parents place we had at least two of everything. A lot went to charity, a lot went to recycling. I found five kettles at my parents house, I have no idea what the hell they wanted with five kettles

Afternoon all, it's brightened up slightly here but we've got heavy showers rolling through now.
Meatballs Al Forno for tea, sounds a bit nudge nudge wink wink say no more to me.

My guess Steve, is your parents were from that generation of the war years, of being prepared. 5 kettles - that’s a mystery. Jessica’s dad (also from the war years), built a concrete bunker in the basement of the main house in Nairobi. He was an architect and had the resources to build the bunker. The bunker these days, is used as a wine cellar and for cold storage. It is somewhere to go in the event of an uprising in case we need to lock ourselves in during a robbery or catastrophic events.

Just spoke with Jessica on WhatsApp. My next instruction is to clear out the crockery, the China that doesn’t match up and take it for recycling

Evening all (sounds like George Dixon ). I know it's only afternoon, but the sun is already heading for the Western horizon, and there's forecast to be temperatures down to 1°C overnight - there's a crystal clear sky now, so a frost is definitely on the cards
I've got to take the missus to the Doctors shortly - she's due to get the results of various cameras, blood pressure monitoring and a healthy heart check - sounds like fun!
Might just nip into Aldi and do our weekend shopping, leaving only my sister's to do tomorrow - for a number of weeks we've been working off two shopping lists - hers and ours. Result? - Confucius, he reign supreme

Hi Phil - hope you and your beloved are both OK?
If you're moving to Bristol, we'll have to drop in and see you when we're heading for the South West for our jollies - drop off the M5 and we're there. Have you got room for me to park my caravan at your new abode - it's only 23 feet long

Afternoon Phil, Yes thanks. the back has eased a lot since yesterday but still cant bend to put socks on though.

It must be a nightmare packing up & moving to a new house, I don't envy you at all. I couldn't imagine shifting all the stuff we've accumulated over the years.

I keep taking stuff that finds it's way into the garage to the tip on the quiet because it will never get used again. so far she's never asked where such & such is.

Doing remarkably well Phil - thank you for asking. She had her last (planned) dose of chemo yesterday and is seeing the radiologist next Wednesday to see if he recommends a course of radiology treatment. Next Friday, she has a relatively small op. to remove the drain they inserted to get rid of the fluid around her lungs. She doesn't have much energy, and still needs to avail herself of oxygen most days for an hour or so - but is very positive all the same.
The oncologist says that they appear to have temporarily halted the cancer's progress. It hasn't shrunk, and will not go away, but a delay in its evil progress is only to be welcomed
