The French authorities have always been a little pedantic. They introduced a law a couple of years ago that you had to carry your yellow vest in the cab of your car, not the boot, they kept it quiet though, and it was only the ferry representative that mentioned it. If it wasn't in the cab, a €60 fine was payable , I was stopped 3 times in 4 trips just to check on this!! And it was only English cars they checked!

You can see the logic in this though ---- no point in getting run over walking round to the boot in the middle of the road !!!

This I know Colvert --- I was thinking more of a breakdown where you aren't able to get to the side of the road .. a collision maybe. Or more for the french car where you are sat on the wrong side !! When in France I am usually in a LHD car cos that's what the family drive :-)

The logic become faded when you find out only the driver needs one, the passengers are only recommended. If you check all the requirements for the differing Euro countries, they are all different, no harmony at all, you need a Tourer just to take the kit you need!!
