Reading dealer to close
Just heard from my local (and really, really good rover dealer) that they are going to close down in 1 months time. I'm just about to zoom over there to pick up a pump so I'll find out more, but here's a thought . . . Anyone interested in seeing if we can buy out their 75/zt stock of parts?

John I would love to buy their stock but my wife wants to eat over the next twelve months  You could do us a very big favour though, could you ask them for any advertising boards they may have for the 75 ZT and an even bigger favour and ask for any MGR flags they may have flying around the showroom. We need these things for meets and other things we have planned and would be a huge bonus for the owners club Regards Ken |

Could you find out what is happening to their Testbook unit? Parts could be expensive and not at this stage a club thing but no harm in asking about things - inc old brochures, manuals flags etc. Good luck Mike

Hi Mike / Ken
Had to dash after posting the message as part of the call was "we're no longer open for parts on Saturdays", so only just got these questions Matey there said the whole site (including petrol station) is going to be flattened. They close at the end of the month, but they had heard nothing official about the stock / display items. The rumour is it's going to a "secure location", but nothing concrete. I might leave it a week until they find out more, then ask again. . . The dealer is also Kia (Evans Halshaw) and I have a feeling they have a branch in High Wycombe. Is that your part of Bucks? |

Not high Wycombe sadly otherwise I'd have camped on their door in the am.
Testbook is the biggy for members as currently we are all entirely reliant on garages keeping/having it. Keith has been trying to sort that one out for sometime. Thanks for checking it out John. Mike

John, if it's okay by you can I get in touch with them as well? I'm not far from them in Tadley during the week so I can see if there's anything they want to donate or sell at a reasonable price. Just thought I would make a comment first before I start calling - otherwise there'd be two of us pestering them lol - but I'm not trying to take over your efforts so do keep in touch with them.
I always found it awkward getting off their forecourt funnily enough...... Cheers, Pete |

Just one thing to bear in mind, they've all been given 1 months notice. "and a merry xMas from Evans Halshaw" was one comment, so I guess their moral is a bit low.
Feel free to contact them, and I'm also happy to collect stuff or help with loading /if you need assistance. The main guy I chat to is John in the parts dept. Big chap and really, really helpful. Even gives me print outs of service bulletins! |
