Default Would anyone be interested....

In a 'How-to' on replacing the plastic dash with a real wood one? Surprisingly (or not?) it is not simply a straight swap and can potentially take longer than you imagine. I have no photos but you do not really need any!

Go for it Zeb!

As an aside,- I read on here a while back that the reason Rover changed from real wood to plastic 'wood' was due to new legislation banning the use of real wood in fascia panels. Today I've been reading about the new Morgan which has a 'solid Walnut dash'.

Have the hacks at Auto Express got it wrong again then?

I have heard this too...however, MGR were offering it as an option right to the end as I understand it. However, I must say my brand new walnut dash kit was dated 2001!

Btw I am also planning further real walnut additions now I have found a source...;-)

So does the real wood actually look significantly better than the plastic 'wood' to make the switch worthwhile?

Absolutely...I was quite surprised at how much better it is as the plastic is not bad at all...but the depth of colour (it is also a touch darker) and the increased solidity of the dash is noticeable - and of course for £23.50 for the real wood dash it seems a quality upgrade!

£23.50! Some people pay more for a Christmas tree than that, there is a lot less wood in most of them too
