Default New owner with MG ZT cdti problem

Hello all. Love this car but am having a real brain drain of a problem. Been searching this forum for a few days now and still haven't found a cure.
This thread here had exactly the same problem with the same fault codes...but there was no conclusion ?
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=168042

Whenever a friend of mine plugs in his laptop/diagnostics and we go for a drive so that he can see what's happening, the damn fault doesn't appear Every other time I drive the car the problem shows itself within a couple of miles...stop,turn off the engine, turn back on ant it goes fine again for a while.
Tried all of the checks made in the other thread with the same results.
One thing I did notice while I was checking it just now,was when you turn the ignition on and put your ear to the open filler cap the pump sounds like it's 'gurgling' ? Also it seems someone has fitted a non return valve between the UB pump and the fuel filter ?

Any help would be much appreciated .

Just wondering...if the in tank pump had previously packed up causing difficulty starting in the morning, would fitting a non return valve in the fuel line mask this problem but leaving the under bonnet pump to do all the work resulting in fuel starvation.....thus leading to the problem that I have with the loss of power?
My car doesn't smoke and otherwise runs very sweetly.

disconnect the pump under the bonnet (pop off the power connector)
open the o/s rear door and put your ear on the back seat, the pump is on the o/s of the tank.
Get a helper to turn the ignition on 2. See if you can hear the pump start and try to prime the system.

The wifes 01 CDT has had fuel starvation problems twice now. Both times it was in-tank pump failure.
I changed them both and kept the front one as a spare. Did them last summer used GEARMAX OE ones from ebay.
~£35 each.

When I took the battery tray out to change the front one. I noticed that the clutch slave cylinder had been changed at some point and the metal pipe had not been routed correctly / clipped in place it had been rubbing on the fuel pipe and had made a pin hole leak in it.
Which had been slowly dripping onto the ABS ECU... Yuk
I changed all the black pipes and clips. A meter of diesel pipe was enough.

Right. I had the chance to give it a longer run today and found that when it did it's thing and lost power, if I hit the kickdown and managed to get the revs up to 3 1/2-4k the power chimes back in for a while.....works every time!
Any ideas?

I'm now starting to wonder if it has sticking Variable vanes in the Turbo.......the extra boost pressure of the higher revs temporarily un seizing them?
