Default Replaced traction control unit......but still

Hi all.
I acquired a replacement -seen working- traction control unit for my Tourer. Took my old, machine gun sounding unit off, installed second hand one.
I saw this one in operation before it was removed, so know it is ok.
I checked that my cable on my car was free and not sticking and had no frayed cables etc. Hooked it all up, started car........no machine gunning sound, but......
My traction control warning light in the IPK came on.
As far as I know, I have not put anything in wrong. I tried starting car a few times, and only got the light to not illuminate once. I could feel cogs going back and forth etc.
Any suggestions as to what the issue might be?
Graeme

Try a battery off reset, if you have not already tried that.

I had similar problem - double check the electric plug/cables, the CANBUS (2 sets of twisted pairs) wiring can play up, follow cable into n/s wing. I traced mine to the ABS plug. it gets wet ... - **** to get at!

Thanks for the replies.
My battery was nearly flat when I did this. I noticed a post somewhere that mentioned about battery charge state, so once battery fully charged again, I will see what happens.
My previous noisy traction unit would light up the traction control warning light about every third start, turning on and off cleared it, but unit was very sensitive to road surfaces. Tyres have been replaced as well... So with new unit, I hope once everything is sorted, it will work much better.

I also had the issue of my airbag warning light coming on too. This only happened due to trying to start the car with a flat battery.
I have since charged my battery, and started the car. The traction control light has extinguished itself now......yippee.
Just have airbag light on still.
I have disconnected the battery, and am about to mow my lawns. So once that is all done and battery reconnected, hopefully everything will be all ok again.

What happened next? The TC light is now on in my ZT-T.

i discovered that somehow i had managed to break a cog in the replacement unit. i know it was fine in the donor car, as I had tried it a couple of times. I ended up putting my original TC unit back in and am now on the search for another replacement TC unit again. As the Toyota advert went.....B....r!

Try your local breakers for a BMW one, or how about a machine shop and get a cog made up in aluminium
