Ah but is there an engine or is it an illusion?

It was indeed mesh but I was also working on a broken foglight mount, keep an eye on my gallery thread for more pics

Well, decided to buy a new Gator for my Gearshift - a Real Leather one aswell! (And it is Leather)....

My old original Vinyl one, and yes, they are all Vinyl, was a bit worse for wear with a couple of crease-splits. Got it off Ebay for £6.99 Delivered - they do the Handbrake aswell, but I thought I would try the Gearshift one first...

Luckily I had a spare Gator Assy also with a knackered Gator, (even thought the chap selling it assured me it was in perfect condition - yeah right!) this saved me going out in the rain showers to remove the Cover first and remove mine first - bargain!

Just in case people haven't done it before, it's quite easy, the Assy just unclips using a removal tool like this:

Once removed, remove the retaining washers from the base with a suitable tool - I used the same tool as I removed the Assy with. There are three, but be careful not to break the little plastic posts!!! (Here you can see the old Vinyl Gator removed along with the retaining plate and washers).

The old Gator is lightly glued to the retaining plate - I cleaned off the old glue as best I could before fitting the new Leather Gator.

The old Vinyl Gator is shaped to fit the retaining plate but the new one isn't so what I did to hold the Leather Gator in place was to zip-tie it to the retaining plate in the correct position, (it can only fit one way) and then glue the new one into place - made the job a whole lot easier!!! Then just cut off the zip-ties before re-assembly...

Job done!!

Got rid of the fabric interior and fitted these power seats today . . .

Looking forward to having a heated bum now

Also moved the door lock and hazard switches to the dash. I used a traction control? button as the new hazzard switch because it flashed red/orange and it keeps the triangle symbol straight. If anyone is thinking of doing this, you need to swap over the electronic from the hazard button into the Traction Control button. Not sure what the MOT guy will say but its a 2 min swap if its a problem. . . .
