Electric, only 8ft by 20ft can reach all of it with extension lead.
Thanks for reply, Harry.

Health and Safety is it? Where do you live, on the side of Snowden? Have you been officially told that your bank will no longer be cut, or is it just that the bloke who used to cut it just doesn't bother any more?
I work for a local authority contractor doing just this kind of work. The council would much rather a properly trained, properly insured, properly equipped, professional do a job where 'Elf an safety' may be an issue, than an amateur (no offense intended) home owner with a b&q strimmer. More likely that the operative can't be a**ed to do your bank, or the council have made budget savings and either lowered the number of cuts in a season, or are just missing chunks of cutting because they've got insufficient workers If your bank really is steep enough for Health and Safety to be an issue, it might be worth kicking up a fuss to see if you can get it cut by them. After all, if it's too 'dangerous' for the professionals, why should you risk yourself doing it?

It's Wales, surely there are plenty of sheep to borrow, without having to buy one

I have watched them in the past with the heavy duty, and they make a right mess of it. When it's wet,the cutter just digs into the ground and ruins the look of the banking. I am retired and have nothing to do and all day to it. I would enjoy looking after it myself, and may be scatter some flower seeds to brighten up the place.

pop down the local car boot sale and get a strimmer.
I've had Black and Decker and Flymo?, much the same thing. I have a petrol strimmer, heavy, awkward in a tight space, noisy...fun macafee2 |
