Default ABS Sensor



The heap of rubbish my lad has passed back to me has an ABS sensor light showing, he reckons he has replaced all the sensors the light will not go out, answers please as to what might be wrong.

Even new sensors can be dead, but probably a bearing track issue, time to get out the multimeter and do FrenchMike's test.

Best to test which corner first using T4 or Toaf.

Yes the worst thing you can do with an ABS fault is throw new bits at it - very easy to add to the fault list if you have to drill the old sensors out.

As mentioned French Mike's tests will help you identify the faulty part or parts if you don't have access to any more sophisticated diagnostic kit.

I have had two new unbranded ABS sensors which came as spares when I bought the car, which had the ABS alarm lit, and neither worked when fitted.

If the speedometer is working then the offside front should be OK, and if you have cruise control and it works then the near side front should be OK too.

E-bay ABS sensors are very hit and miss, never assume because its new that its working.
