Default FBH problem

I wonder if anybody could could assist in identifying the problem with my FBH system. In preparation for those cold mornings I decided to give it a run. I turned on the FBH via the controller in the center console (it does exactly the same when I do it by the remote) As you turn it on the FBH fan activates and the climate control panel illuminates but after about 1 - 2 seconds there is a click and the CC panel turns off and the FBH fan slows down for about 20 seconds then turns off. No clicking from the pump, no smoke.

Its a low mileage car so it hasn't had a hard life, it worked faultlessly last year and those previous, I haven't done any work on the car since the winter i.e I haven't disturbed anything. Any suggestions guys
