NHS would be very grateful for the banning of alcohol altogether. Don't quote me but I believe alcohol related issues are one of the biggest drains on resources, not to mention assaults on hospital staff.

It also a great source of tax revenue (like smoking) and if alcohol was banned (I'm not saying it should be or shouldn't be) the lost revenue would be sourced from the next easiest target - yep, the motorist.
