Blue smoke on a 1.8t
I've seen plenty of posts about oil getting into diesel engines and the need to change/renew the PCV valve, bt nothing about the same situation on a petrol engined car.
Current problem is contant blue smoke and a warning yesterday of low oil pressure. Rather than just topping up the oil I'd rather investigate the problem but can't find a PCV on the Rave CD nor on the rimmerbros website. Any tips?

Your piston rings or valve stem oil seals need replacing, both big engine strip down jobs

Constant blue and lots of oil usage = knackered turbo. Take the pipe off the inlet of the turbo and check how much play is in the shaft. You may find it will have lots of play

Depends if the oil seal or water seal has gone. It will get worst as time goes on. the car will also start to loose power. Had a 1.8T ion last year with blown turbo blue everywhere.

So is it a case of just getting & fitting a replacement turbo unit then?

If it is the tubo. You will also need to degreese the intercooler and wash out all the pipes. You should also fit new oil feed pipe. Have you checked fur play in the shaft?

Just to throw a relativly easy check into the mix as was proved in my case... A compression test, it was low on no. 4 cylinder. Proved it was rings welded to the piston. Not nice to find out but at least you will know either way.
