Mate of mine is a mechanic, tells me that the current trainees are now close to qualifying but have little diagnostic or mechanical experience. Other than general servicing it's all plug in a computer and replace what it tells them to, no experience of head scratching and physically tracing a fault.

"Above all else......it's Head Gasket Failure" is a common instant diagnosis upon hearing the word Rover that isn't preceeded by Range or Land. These 'mechanics' really get on my goat, and I don't even own a goat.
Take the advice you get on here, and by the sounds of it that Warranty you bought doesn't cover you for much.

I had a small coolant leak for months and months. Drove me nuts. It was the IMG.
