Default Erratic dash display-help needed

Hi guys,
Got a 51 plate 75 2ltr diesel conniseur.
My dash has gone completely mad!
Every time I get in the car the dash display shows different selections of what should be displayed. The screen is dead/intermitent, the other displays appear drunk, the wipers won't work, and it even locks the doors when it fancies!!!
What is happening fellas? I've heard that the ECUs are prone to damp damage. Is this the case here? If so, can they be dried out or is it an expensive replacement job?
Any ideas would be very welcome.

Hi there and welcome to the club!

First thing to check is your battery. Erratic electrics behaviour is often attributed to a low battery, even if it is just slightly under full voltage it can still upset the car. Get the battery checked out and see if that solves your problems.

Welcome jd

First thing to do is check that your ECU is dry and the plenum drains are clear.

It is also possible that this can be resolved by rebooting your car. Disconnect the battery for ten minutes.

Hi there

whilst there are a number of things it could be the very 1st thing to do is not panic (HHGTTG) !

Then (as mentioned below) take your battery off for 10 mins. A reboot will work 9/10 times. Connect it up and you may well be back to normal.

cheers
